FC Sting was created by former University of Texas standout, Rachael Safirstein in 2003. Rachael created the club to live out her passion for teaching the “Beautiful Game” every day. Devoted to the training and advancement of elite level female soccer players, FC Sting has been on the forefront of Region 1 soccer ever since the Syosset Sting (formerly FC STING BEES) were assembled in 2004. In just a few short years, FC STING has produced several players that have gone on to play for Division I Universities including: UCONN, St. Johns, Princeton, Providence, George Washington, Boston University, and Yale to name a few. Numerous players have also taken part in the National Residency Programs, US Soccer National teams and pools (U15-U20).
Mission and Vision
The Mission of the FC STING Soccer Club is to promote the game of soccer by providing the highest possible level of technical and tactical training, skill development, competitive team play, and to provide highly skilled and capable players with an opportunity to further excel in the sport. The goal, however, is not to train players to follow any particular style of play, or to adhere to some rigid program that resembles a video game. Rather, to harness each player’s natural creativity and love for the game and to foster a sense of humility and self respect that comes with being part of a select group of female athletes. We want our kids to feel comfortable in their roles on each team and to allow them the freedom to explore what the game teaches us about teamwork, fair play and life in general.
Now we have the ability to touch even more players with our new partnership with Intense Soccer Academy. Combined, both FC STING and Intense Soccer Academy have formed ISA STING. ISA STING is an exiting new Club that affords players the opportunity to train and play with other elite female athletes across Long Island, Westchester County, and Northern New Jersey - in fact no other club has the ability or the resources to tap into the player development pool throughout the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. Having two former female soccer standouts, Sue Weber (Boston Breakers, WPS) and Rachael Safirstein(University of Texas), as part of the club’s leadership, ISA Sting players are given a rare and unique perspective into the technical, physical and psychological nuances of the women’s game. Combined, Rachael and Sue have over 15 years of coaching experience and have placed multiple players into top collegiate soccer programs. Safirstein and Weber are products of the ideas that are shaping US women’s soccer today. Their experience in youth soccer combined with the expertise of the metropolitan area’s top coaches, such as Ron and Michael Alber(NY), and Ryan Garland (NY/NJ) are powerful members of the soccer community. We believe that the ISA Sting system creates a cutting edge, competitive arena that is unmatched in the soccer landscape.
“In the end our mission is to create a cutting edge environment where players can test their physical and mental limitations. We designed a soccer community for female athletes who thrive in highly competitive environments, who exhibit strong discipline of character, and who see the long-term benefits in the social experience of youth soccer. Our system fosters individuality, discipline, conditioning and sportsmanship, and demonstrates that female athletes can train as hard as male athletes"
We are Growing, and we are WINNING!
We consider our Club to provide the greatest opportunity for TRUE player Development in Girls Youth Soccer. From the U8 Developmental Programs to approximately U14, our girls train in their respective geographical location - either in Westchester, NY with the FC STING (under Rachael Safirstein), or in Long Island with ISA STING (under Ron Alber and former WPS Star Sue Weber-Alber). Player Development from U8 – U14 will be of paramount importance for both the ISA Sting (Long Island) and the FC Sting (NNJ and Westchester, NY) teams to produce the top, most elite players possible to combine and merge into one or more ISA STING teams at the U15 level.
